ControlPlay does not trigger TTS directly from Channel Points. A reward credits Coins first; viewers then use them for an enabled TTS action. This tutorial covers setup, conversion and moderation.
How Channel Points and Coins work together
Create up to three optional beta rewards that convert channel-specific points into Coins. For each reward, set the required Channel Points and a points-per-Coin ratio. ControlPlay calculates the Coin credit and enforces the package minimums. Viewers can use those Coins for TTS or another enabled action.
Channel Points have no monetary value and stay tied to your Twitch channel. Converting them into Coins creates no revenue and no 80/20 allocation.

Why use two steps? Viewers can use the credited Coins for TTS, sounds or any other action you enable. You set a separate Coin amount, cooldown and usage limit for each action.
Set up Channel Points TTS step by step
- Check your access. Twitch makes Channel Points available after monetization onboarding. The ControlPlay Channel Points integration is an optional beta feature.
- Connect ControlPlay. Create your account, connect Twitch, install the Windows client and activate the ControlPlay Twitch Extension.
- Create the conversion rewards. In the Streamer Hub, create up to three Channel Points rewards. Set the required points and the points-per-Coin ratio for each reward. The calculated Coin credit is shown automatically and is not a separate input. ControlPlay then adds the matching rewards to your Twitch channel.
- Configure the TTS action. Choose a voice, set its Coin amount and cooldown, then make the action visible to viewers. The Twitch TTS setup guide explains voices and audio routing.
- Test the viewer flow. Redeem a reward from a viewer account, check the Coin balance, submit a short message and check that it plays on stream.
Moderate TTS messages before they play
Viewers enter the TTS text in the ControlPlay Extension after converting Channel Points into Coins. Normal chat moderation does not automatically cover this text, so ControlPlay checks it before creating the audio. It combines a word filter designed to catch common bypass attempts with a semantic content check. The TTS moderation guide explains how to configure both layers.
Two other details matter:
- Conversion and TTS refunds are handled separately. ControlPlay completes the points-to-Coins conversion automatically. If it blocks a TTS message, it returns the Coins used for that message without reversing the earlier conversion.
- Each action keeps its own settings. Instead of tying every message to one Channel Points amount, you can set a separate Coin amount, cooldown and limit for each TTS action.
Choose a useful conversion ratio
Estimate how many points a regular non-subscriber earns during a typical stream. A ratio of 300 means that 300 Channel Points become one Coin; ControlPlay divides the reward requirement by that ratio and rounds down to full Coins. Set the smallest reward so viewers can reach one standard TTS message after reasonable watch time. The Channel Points ideas guide explains earning rates and reward values.
For the TTS action, start with a Coin amount your regular viewers can reach and a cooldown long enough to prevent back-to-back messages. Review a few streams before lowering either value. This helps you spot repeated messages, filter misses and cooldowns that are too short without overwhelming chat.
